Volkswagen Golf R by Abt Sportsline brings to mind that the legendary hot hatch is one of the most versatile models of the German firm and, therefore, one of the most sought after by trainers such as Abt Sportsline, which this time took the R version and took it to the level of performance of his cousin, the Audi RS3.
Indeed, Abt Sportsline, a tuning firm, founded in 1970 and whose headquarters is in Kempten, Germany took a Volkswagen Golf R in their hands and after some modifications managed to raise the power of its 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, the original 310 horsepower at 400 hp, that is, the same power as the Audi RS3.
Volkswagen Golf R by Abt Sportsline received 30 percent more power, which in this case was achieved thanks to changes in the electronics of the four-cylinder engine. It is important to note that this type of modification is only available for versions equipped with double-clutch DSG transmission.
If this is not your case, Abt also offers an option that guarantees 370 hp, available for models with manual transmission.
Volkswagen Golf R by Abt Sportsline, higher performance
In terms of performance, Volkswagen Golf R by Abt Sportsline has a much more sporty handling, thanks to the installation of self-made stabilizer bars. As an option, an Abt suspension with sports springs is available, which reduces the rolling height by 20 mm to the front and 25 mm in the rear section.
If you want your Volkswagen Golf R to get much closer to the floor, an adjustable kit is available that allows you to lower the front axle by up to 40 millimeters, and 45 millimeters in the rear section. Also available as an option is a brake kit with six piston calipers.
The performance package of Abt Sporstline for the Volkswagen Golf R is complemented by its own exhaust outlet, which improves the sound and is topped by black outlets. There is also no missing the Abt alloy wheels, available in 18, 19 or 20 inches, as well as aerodynamic elements that include heel pockets or a rear diffuser.
